I’ve already run my draft through AI to improve it. Should I be worried?

What is hedging and why does removing it matter?
Hedging is the calibrated language academic writing uses to match claim strength to evidence strength — suggests, indicates, may contribute, appears to. It is not weak writing, it is accurate writing. General-purpose tools treat it as padding and cut it, converting a careful finding into an assertion you cannot support.
How can a rewritten sentence break my citation?
Because the citation was attached to a specific claim. If editing changes that claim — even slightly, even in a way that reads better — the source may no longer say what you are now asserting. Subtle, common in AI-edited drafts, and serious when an examiner checks.
Will editing change my voice?
